By 2015, postmen and women of Royal Mail will have next generation IT savvy hand-held scanners that will have better tracking capability. Royal Mail has decided to invest close to £ 130 million in the next five years to upgrade its services. The investment is aimed at achieving more flexible delivery for parcel customers of Royal Mail. More than 75,000 new scanners will be issued to the postal delivery staff. As part of Royal Mail’s attempts at modernizing its delivery services, this move is being hailed as this age- old logistics company’s IT transformation program. Royal Mail has roped in the services of BT Global Services to roll out next generation gadgets to improve their parcel delivery system. This move is also aimed at reviving Royal Mail’s biggest flop show at the FTSE this week.
